Posting Pictures on the GSCO Community
Web Servers In order to post pictures on the GSCO Community, your photo has to first be placed on a web server. Most Internet service providers (ISPs) include space on a web server with the connection package. There are also many free photo hosting web sites available, such as http://www.imagestation.com/ File Formats Photos in JPEG format (.jpg) are the best (especially when not heavily compressed--a compression setting of 80+ is best), as they offer crisp on-screen viewing and small file sizes for quick downloading. Windows Bitmap (.bmp) files are less preferable because of generally large file sizes. GIF (.gif) images are for animations and don't produce quality photos. Photo Internet Address Once you have posted your photo to a web server, make note of the URL (web address). If you can see the photo on the Internet but don't know the address, simply place the mouse over the photo, right click, and choose "properties". The address will be displayed and it will end with .jpg. Photos in a Message When composing a message on the Community, you will see several buttons above the message box. One of these buttons is the "display image" button. When you are at the correct paragraph of your message, click on the green "display image" button, and a box will appear asking you to type the address. The code to display your photo will appear in your message. |
