Alberta Minister’s Special Bighorn Sheep License raffle tickets are now available for purchase.

Alberta Minister’s Special Bighorn Sheep License: License # 273420

Tickets are $10.00 each and there are 15,000 tickets printed.

The draw will take place on Friday August 21, 2009 at the Calgary Firearms Centre in DeWinton, Alberta.

Only Alberta residents are eligible to purchase these tickets.

Raffle Tickets may not be sold to a person under 18 years of age.

This permit is authorized to hunt the entire month of November and the first two weeks in December 2009 to hunt in this prized bighorn area. The rams are in the rut then, and there will be only four other licensed sheep hunters in Alberta during November and the first two weeks of December. Sunday hunting is permitted across Alberta. The buyer of the license is allowed to hunt north of the Bow River in Wildlife Management Units 412-428, 430-436 and 438-446. Three of the permits produced rams scoring of 208 3/8 (Guinn Crousen -Boone & Crockett #1 record trophy), 205 (Gary Hansen), and 190+ (Bernie Fiedeldey). The 2008 ram taken by Billy McClelland scored an impressive 199 (unofficial) and the 2007 ram shot by Denis Dale scored 94+ (unofficial). These are representative of the rams that can be hunted in Alberta.
