Ramdreamer,

Forgot to ask...Is the Wyoming online like Colorado's (charge the full amount up-front), or will it be like Utah's (charge the app fee, and pref point fee)? That little detail will make the draw odds drastically different!

1/2slam,

I don't know yet. The information I posted earlier today just hit their website recently. I think we'll know a lot more come Friday of next week. I haven't had time to call anyone up there.

As an FYI, I just got my copy of Wyoming FNAWS' "The RAMPAGE" in the mail this last weekend. They recap the 2006 draw by resident and non-resident by both Preference Point Draw and Random Draw. Some of the highlights were interesting...

- As some folks had expected, odds actually worsened in many units (both preference and random draws).
- 306 residents with maximum points put in for a preference point only.
- 164 non-residents put in for Hunt Areas with no license in the random draw.
- Resident applications in the draw w/ max. points = 567 vs. 132 available licenses (4.3:1 odds).
- Total resident applications = 4,211.
- Non-resident applications in the draw w/ max. points = 103 vs. 47 available licenses (2.2:1 odds)
- Total non-resident applications = 2,009.

Either way, tag fee up front or not, the odds are sure to worsen with online apps.

Gentlemen,

Just got off the phone with Wyo G&F. Spoke with the coordinator of the license draws. She told me that the online application will be like Colorado's. They will charge the full amount up-front to your credit card. If unsuccessful, you will be issued a refund check. Wyoming G&F will be handling all aspects of the draw...it will not be contracted out like Nevada's. Hope this clears a few things up. Best of luck to all in the draws!

Congratulations to 1/2slam!

He's actually a 3/4 slammer and needs this Wyoming Rocky to finish. Good luck, 1/2slam! Let us know how things go.

Anybody else draw?

Thanks! Looks like I need to change my name to catch up a bit. Hope Lady Luck is with me on Sept. 1. I'm still bouncing off the walls!

PREFERENCE POINT LETTER COMING AT END OF YEAR

5/17/2007

CHEYENNE - After receiving their moose and bighorn sheep refund check, many hunters contacted the Wyoming Game and Fish Department looking for their preference point totals that are usually printed on the check stub.

With the preference point purchase period being changed to July - September, the Game and Fish has opted to send all applicants who have accrued preference points a letter at the end of the year with their preference point totals through 2007.

Residents can accrue preference points for moose and bighorn sheep. Nonresidents can for moose, bighorn sheep, elk, deer and antelope.

Seventy-five percent of the quota for these species are issued to applicants with the most preference points.
