Last year, the results were posted on the Montana FWP website around June 20th. Looks like this year's results will be around the same time. Good Luck!!! BTW, what unit did you apply for? My choice was 203 (Petty Creek).

Steve,

I checked the Montana website for any info and found this:

Montana’s Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission will gather in Helena June 9-10 for a work session and meeting.
The FWP Commission meeting is set to begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 10 at the FWP Headquarters, 1420 East 6th Ave. Commissioners will take final action on harvest quotas for mountain lions, moose, bighorn sheep, and mountain goats.

I guess now we know why they don't get around to doing the drawing until late June - they don't even set the final quotas in stone, for this fall, until this coming Thursday.

Glad to help, Steve. I put in for a ewe tag over on the West side, so I won't be competing with you for a "Breaks" ram tag this year. I'd really like to get a ewe to mount with the Rocky ram I got in Alberta last year.

Brenton,

Don't they always auction off a CO ewe hunt at FNAWS? Wonder how much that usually goes for?

Steve,

Yes, usually. When they do it's always donated by Al Vallejo (whom I have the pleasure of serving with on the board of the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Society). Problem is that you must still draw the ewe tag. It's usually easier for a non-resident to draw a ewe tag especially if they don't have preference points accrued in Colorado. What I mean by that is, if you put in for the ewe as your first choice then you burn all of your accrued points to obtain the ewe tag. If you put in for it as a second choice, you might not ever draw out. No matter what the situation, I'm currently just not willing to burn all of my accrued preference & weighted points (I'm at max) for a ewe tag. I do try to pull a ewe tag each year now as a second choice (which wouldn't burn my points up). Since the points I have in Montana are "bonus" points, it's a different game than "preference" points - thus I'm willing to burn the few that I have on a ewe tag.
