North Dakota's bighorn application deadline this year is going to be Wednesday, March 18th (postmark).

The "2009 NONRESIDENT BIGHORN SHEEP LICENSE APPLICATION" is available to view / downloadn and/or print at: http://gf.nd.gov/licenses/docs/sfn-6131.pdf

When available, the on-line application may be found at:
https://secure.apps.state.nd.u...blic/online/main.htm

You can find the regulations here and information here: http://gf.nd.gov/hunting/biggame/bsem/bighorn.html

Note that I've now placed this information under "Rocky Mountain Bighorn." North Dakota was, until 2006, a California Bighorn state. Now, as a result of transplanting Rocky Mountain Bighorns from Montana, the sheep are destined to become a mix. As we know, groups that keep separate records (unlike Boone & Crockett) on Rocky Mountain and California bighorns will now have to consider these mixed sheep as the Rocky variety. The game department of North Dakota now considers their wild sheep to be "North Dakota Bighorns."

Bighorn sheep, moose, and elk lottery licenses are issued on a once-in-a-lifetime basis in North Dakota. Persons who have received a license through the lottery in the past are not eligible to apply for that species again.

Just a quick note for North Dakota residents...

The "2009 RESIDENT BIGHORN SHEEP AND/OR ELK AND/OR MOOSE LICENSE APPLICATION" is available to view / download and/or print at: http://gf.nd.gov/licenses/docs/sfn-6134.pdf

A reminder to all that applications must be completed or mailed by Wednesday of this week. There are a good number of very old age class rams available. Even though the game department will not certify that these older rams are the California subspecies, that is exactly what they are. If you want a nice, old ram you could sure find one here.

Good luck!

It appears we are at least getting closer to seeing some draw results out of North Dakota. At https://secure.apps.state.nd.u...ot/lotterySearch.htm it states "Bighorn Sheep Inquiry unavailable while lottery is in process".
