Public Input Sought for Black Mountain Bighorn Sheep Draft Management Plan The Arizona Game and Fish Department is seeking public comment on a draft Black Mountain Bighorn Sheep Management Plan. The bighorn sheep population in the Black Mountains near Kingman, Arizona are facing a variety of issues, including predation, habitat fragmentation, drought, and competition with non-native species. “This is a strategic plan for the management of these issues,” said Kevin Morgan, habitat program manager with the department’s Kingman office. This plan is critical for an area that contains one-third of all the bighorn sheep in Arizona. “These sheep belong to the public,” Morgan stated. “For this reason, it’s important the public provide input to help us best manage this important resource.” Game and Fish will accept public comment until Aug. 1, 2007. Comments can be submitted by e-mail at sheepmgt@azgfd.gov or mailed to Arizona Game and Fish Department, C/O Draft Management Plan, 5325 N. Stockton Hill Rd., Kingman, AZ 86409. No comments received after Aug. 1, 2007 can be considered. - View the draft management at: http://www.azgfd.gov/pdfs/w_c/bhsheep/BHSPlanDraft.pdf (pdg, 4.1MB file) |
