Help Needed for Ut. Bighorn Transplant Email Sent By Don Peay on Oct. 14th, 2005 As you can see below, there is a need for several volunteers to help the baiting of California Bighorn sheep on Antelope Island. There are nearly 180 sheep on AI. The management plan calls for 125. It is estimated that 50 sheep will be removed from AI this December, and will be established on new mountain ranges - POSSIBLY Stansbury Mts. west of Tooele and the Oak Creek Mts. Northeast of Delta. Release sites still to be determined. To help with baiting, contact Jericho Whiting, email address below. Jcw44@email.byu.edu ---------------------------------------------------------------- Letter From Jericho We will need 20 people to help bait the drop net areas; so, we will need 4 people/week from November 1 to when we trap (first or second week in December). Then, when we capture sheep with the drop net we will need probably 60 people each day we trap, and when we capture sheep with the helicopter we will need probably 20 people a day. Let all the FNAWS members know and just have them contact me. Thanks, Jericho |
