BUTTE (LEE) - The public's help is asked with the investigation into an illegally killed bighorn ram in the Highlands, south of Butte.
The Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks' Butte office received a call from a hunter Oct. 26 alerting wardens to the dead bighorn ram.
Warden Sgt. Coy Kline and Warden Joe Kambic found the dead ram approximately 5 miles up Soap Gulch.
"We've determined the ram was most likely killed on the evening of Oct. 24 or the morning of the Oct. 25 with a gun," said Kline. "We're interested in hearing from anyone with information about this incident."
Hunters or others recreating in the area on Oct. 24-26 are encouraged to call 1-800-TIP-MONT (1-800-847-6668), the Butte Area Office at 494-1953, or any other FWP office with information concerning the sheep.
