I have access to two tags in Mexico, cost is $50,000 each. What is a fair price to assume to have to pay for a tag, claiming 160 to 170 on both of these tags?? Thanks for any info

pheasantman,

Not clear on what you are saying / asking. Are you asking for input on whether the tags are worth it? You'd need to say who they are with, what's included, what's not, all the details.

Or are you trying to sell two tags? Just confused and don't understand what info you're looking for.

I do know of other tags available, with supposedly 170 rams available. But that's posted as a bow-only deal on another website and the price is $30K per tag.

Let us know some details...

Sorry for any confusion. What was in my head didn't come out on paper!! It is a newly registered ranch in Sonora, Johnson Mtms, two tags are available thru a guide service I found, cost is $50,000 ea. Anytime between Dec 1 and Feb 28th. They are only going to shoot two heads. All inclusive, 5 days, 3 guides working with each hunter to locate sheep. Rifle season for 2004. Has not been hunted previously and sounded like a guy could come away with 170". I have found "cheaper" hunts, but on what I call high fenced ranches. They cost somewhat less. I was wondering if this seemed like a fair price to pay? I am not offering them, I am looking to book myself.

pheasantman,

Didn't mean to leave you hanging, I've had a ton going on. I was also hoping that someone else might jump in with some advice for you. The cost is average (my opinion), not a bargain and not the highest charged either. Just be sure you know the outfitter well and have researched the heck out them, talked to previous clients, etc. 5 days seems short. What's the plan if you don't score in those five days? Keep hunting at no charge? Return later at no additional charge? Any limit on return trips, etc.? You've got to nail down all of the details (the good, the bad and the ugly). It's just too much money at stake to leave ANYTHING to chance.

By the way, I spent two weeks - and then another week - in Sonora hunting a desert bighorn ram this last season. I did not harvest as I never saw a Class IV ram in all of that time. So maybe I'm a bit jaded, just want you to know. I, for one, don't believe all of this 100% success rate non-sense south of the border at all.

Just trying to ensure you have a good hunt and cover all of the bases to ensure you don't discover a "gotcha" somewhere down the line after you've spent your money.

All The Best & Good Luck!
