Arizona news briefs Sept. 17, 2007 12:00 AM Kingman men convicted of shooting two bighorns BULLHEAD CITY - Arizona Game and Fish officials say three young Kingman men have been convicted of shooting two desert bighorn sheep. James Tarantino pleaded guilty to poaching and was fined more than $4,500, ordered to pay restitution and serve 12 months probation. Regional Fish and Game supervisor Bob Posey says Tarantino, 22, shot a collared female sheep and another ewe north of Highway 69 outside Bullhead City last September. Two 21-year-old men, Nathan DeYoung and Daniel Stapleton, helped him cover up the crime. DeYoung went to trial last week and was convicted and sentenced to 30 days in jail and fines. Stapleton then took a plea deal and got 10 days in jail, fines and probation. Posey says a reward from sportsman's groups prompted a tip that led to the men's arrest. |
