Grand Slam Club/Ovis has embarked on an exciting new endeavor to promote sheep and goat hunting and conservation. I sincerely hope that you will support and join our effort as we work toward this goal.

GSCO will be holding our first convention on February 17-20, 2005. The GSCO board of directors voted unanimously at our last board meeting (January 2004) to take this bold step. GSCO has grown to the point where this move became the obvious conclusion for the board.

This event is titled as the Grand Slam Club/Ovis Hunter & Outfitter Convention. From the name, it should be clear that hunters and outfitters are a top priority. We are modeling our events around the philosophy of offering the highest possible satisfaction to these groups.

The location will be the beautiful Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. This is an MGM/Mirage property, and is not only beautiful but a great facility for such a convention. The Gulf Coast is beautiful, and the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino is Las Vegas quality (again, it is an MGM/Mirage property, which means something special). Biloxi is near New Orleans and I am sure many of you will want to come early or stay late to visit that very special world-class city or enjoy the Gulf Coast.

As stated above, the dates are February 17-20, 2005, which means the exhibit hall will be open Thursday (noon) through Sunday (3 pm). Do not forget that February 21 is President's day, which is a Federal holiday. This means you can stay at the convention through Sunday and use the following day for travel. Opening ceremonies will be on Thursday night immediately prior to a big Gulf Coast Shrimp Boil party. We will have banquets on both Friday and Saturday nights, which will include both presentations of some exciting awards as well as short but very special auctions…no long speeches, just lots of fun and excitement.

GSCO is currently finalizing our free drawings and raffles programs. Rest assured, we are offering convention registrants the most extensive and exciting lineup of raffles ever seen.

So you see that we will be doing new, innovative, exciting and fun things at our first convention. I want to take this opportunity to give you a personal invitation to attend the convention, and to ask you to join us in our new direction. You will be hearing much more from us about the convention in the near future. Please stay current with updates through this message board and our convention web site, http://www.wildsheep.org/convention.

Sincerely,
Dennis Campbell
Executive Director

Just got some information regarding this upcoming convention. This looks to be a very exciting gathering...lots of events, prizes, and hunts. I encourage everyone to look at this and particapate. It's good to be a part of an organization who continually looks towards its future and the future of sheep hunting.

My wife was wondering if there are any plantations they can tour down there, maybe as another side trip?
