After looking at the realities of any sheep hunt with the exception of Dall the Ibex hunts offer the absolute best bargins in mountain hunting. You are getting to hunt in the same mountains,in the same style and for very nice trophies. For some reason the Ibex's do not seem to get much attention thus the much cheaper price of the hunts.I am going to the convention looking for a great Ibex hunt/adventure.Any suggestions and recommended outfitters would be appreciated.I guess this officially is the poor mans sheep hunt thread.

At the conventions you will mostly be dealing with booking agents if you are looking at an ibex hunt. I can share direct experience with only one booking agent Safari Outfitters out of Cody, WY. I booked a hunt with them, paid 50%, and then had 6-bypass open heart surgery. I asked to shift the money to an equivalent but not so difficult hunt. They weren't interested. They kept all the money.

I'd say that you might be best off to find a smaller booking agent who is not trying to conquer the World. Do your homework. Call references and ask them their own hunting experiences and histories but don't let them know who you are calling about.

Sorry forgot to finish the last sentence: Don't tell them who you are calling about until they tell you about the best hunts they have had, why the hunt was a top hunt, what they have hunted, etc., etc. Get all the information you can before you name the hunting agent you are calling about.

OregonCarl:

Thanks for the reply.I already had a bad experience with Safari Outfitters in 1997.It was a deer hunt in Alberta.I would not do business with them if the hunts were free.Hopefully not all consultants are nothing more than comissioned sales people.I realize they cater to repeat rich clients and now that I know that I hope I am a little smarter.Even us little guys deserve to be treated fairly nothing more nothing less.Eamil me if you want at RRMan03@comcast.net
