The 2008 Oregon Big Game Regulations are now available to view / download / print at: http://www.dfw.state.or.us/resources/hunting/big_game/r...2008gamewebnoads.pdf

Tag applications are due Thursday, May 15, 2008. (Results are to be available June 20th.)

The mail order application form is on page 33. You may also download and/or print the mail-in / fax-in application form at: http://www.dfw.state.or.us/resources/hunting/big_game/r...008_mailorderapp.pdf

Bighorn sheep application information (units/tags/dates) is on pages 47 (California Bighorn) & 48 (Rocky Mountain Bighorn).

Mountain goat application information (units/tags/dates) is on page 46.

Good news... All license, application and tag prices remain the same as they were 2006 & 2007.

One of the best, condensed, explainations of Oregon's draw is at: http://www.dfw.state.or.us/resources/hunting/big_game/controlled_hunts/ Scroll down the page and look under "How to Apply".

This explaination might be helpful to people that are new to the draw game in Oregon.

Raffle tag(s) information is on pages 28 & 29, with the order form for raffle tickets being on page 29.

Mail order / fax ticket orders must be received at ODFW Raffles, 3406 Cherry Ave. NE, Salem, OR 97303-4924, by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5th, 2008.

Completed tickets must be received at ODFW’s Salem headquarters no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16th, 2008. Mail completed raffle tickets to: ODFW RAFFLES, P.O. BOX 7760, SALEM, OR 97303 or tickets can be hand delivered to the Oregon Hunters Association (OHA) State Convention on May 17, 2008, in Lincoln City, Oregon between 5:00 and 6:30 p.m.

Well, yet another state agency system fails...

If you missed the Oregon deadline (which was supposed to be today) you have a reprieve.

From: http://www.dfw.state.or.us/news/2008/may/051408b.asp

“Controlled hunt deadline extended through Monday, May 19”

Congratulations, Tad!

That's a terrific tag. Be sure you go ahead and pay for the tag and get it in your hands, if you haven't already. That's a little detail some folks tend to forget about Oregon.

The guy you really want to come on here and respond is "ramslam". He knows California bighorns very well and knows your unit.

Are you going to try to do this on your own, or use an outfitter/guide?

RamDreamer, thanks for the congrats.. I did pay for the tag (the first day you could send in the $$ !!) and I received the permit. In fact I locked in the gun safe to keep it safe! I am doing this one on my own. I am have been pretty lucky over the years in being able to "find" the game and have done very well on elk, deer, and antelope, but this is my first sheep hunt. Have done quite a bit of research on this unit and have a pretty good idea of where to find the sheep, the thing I am really working on is field judging. Getting photos, judging, and then comparing to actual scores seems to really help and I am getting pretty close (usually within 4-5"s now). I would really like to speak with ramslam. I will try and post to see if I can find him. Thanks again.. Tad
