2006 Conklin Award Announced

It is with great pleasure that The Conklin Foundation announces the 2006 Recipient of the Conklin Award: Mr. Pete Papac of Montesano, Washington.

Mr. Papac has an amazing hunting record in variety and difficulty. Having hunted every species available within North America, Mr. Papac has ventured to other continents for his adventurous quests. He has taken the African “Big Five” as well as several forest elephants, forest antelope, and the more common plainsgame. Mr. Papac has spent a tremendous amount of time pursuing the sheep and goat species throughout the mountain ranges of the world. He has successfully completed the Ovis World Slam with more than 20 different varieties of wild sheep and the Capra World Slam with more than 15 different goat species. During his forty-six Russian expeditions, he was often a pioneer in opening this unique hunting area as well as Middle East and Asian locales. Mr. Papac has taken many of the most exotic species available and has several seldom taken trophies to his credit. His hunting resume is extremely impressive. Likewise, Mr. Papac’s conservation record for leadership, scientific research initiatives, and philanthropy is truly superb.

Due to his outstanding collection of the most difficult to obtain big game animals of the world, his dedication and commitment to wildlife conservation, and his adherence to fair chase hunting, The Conklin Foundation feels that Mr. Pete Papac is a most appropriate and deserving Conklin Award winner.
