Hunting Season Dates: September 1 — December 31, 2008.
Hunt Area: Black Butte, Wenaha, and Mtn. View herds in GMUs 169, 172, 181, & 186.
*subject to approval by WDFW Commission

Permit applications may be purchased via the Internet at https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov

Special hunt permit applications for deer, elk, goat, sheep, moose, early fall turkey, and late fall turkey are available for sale from April 16 to June 18, 2008.

The base cost of an application for a special hunt permit is $5.00 for residents, $50.00 for non-residents, and $3.00 for youth.

The Application Submission Period for the 2008 Deer, Elk, Mountain Goat, Moose, Bighorn Sheep, Early Fall Turkey, and Late Fall Turkey Drawing is May 15 to midnight June 18, 2008. After that time, special hunt permit application submissions will NOT be accepted.

How to Apply - After the application is purchased, there are two ways to submit an application for a special hunt permit. You may either call the toll-free permit application submission telephone number 1-877-945-3492 or visit the Internet website at https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov.

When using the toll-free telephone line, it is best to use a standard touch-tone "land-line" telephone. Cell phones, rotary telephones, and in some cases cordless telephones will not communicate properly with the permit application submission telephone system. Note: The "pound" key is the lower right key on the telephone keypad with the # sign printed on it. You may be asked to press this key after an entry.

Please note: There is no other way to submit an application - Paper documents will no longer be used or accepted.

Attention Special Permit Applicants

Hunters can submit applications for special hunting-season permit drawings for deer, elk, mountain goat, moose, bighorn sheep, and turkey on the Internet at https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/. The automated phone system for submitting applications is currently unavailable.

When the draw results are posted later this month, they will be available at: http://wdfw.wa.gov/wlm/game/hunter/specperm/results/

You will need to enter your "WILD ID" number in order to obtain your draw results.

The California Bighorn raffle results have been posted. You can find the winning ticket number at: http://wdfw.wa.gov/cgi-bin/shp_tmp/raffle_internet.cgi

Note that if you enter your raffle ticket number(s) and search the result, it will tell you your place in the drawing. Then again, you might not want to know... I placed 1,038th out of 4,150.
