Proceeds from the auction and raffle are used for bighorn sheep research, management and propagation in New Mexico.
One license to hunt a Rocky Mountain or desert bighorn sheep will be auctioned during the Feb. 4-6, 2010 WSF National Convention in Reno, NV. A second license will be awarded through a raffle. The successful raffle winner will choose one of the remaining hunts not chosen by the auction winner. The license fee is included for the successful raffle winner. See below for detailed hunt information. The date and location of the drawing will be announced.

Just received the below note from New Mexico Game and Fish. Thought I would post it in case it might help anyone here...
The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish is preparing to conduct special hunts drawings and charge online applicants for Big Game hunting opportunities for antelope, bighorn sheep, Barbary sheep, deer, elk, ibex and javelina licenses. The Department reminds all online applicants that funds must be available through the credit card account on the application. You may also want to notify your credit card issuer that they should not decline transactions related to your hunt application. If you have moved, changed your credit card billing address, cancelled your card account or otherwise changed your status, please access your account at the Department website (http://www.wildlife.state.nm.us). All credit card information must be updated by 12:00 noon, Mountain Daylight Time, 04/09/2010. Thank you for participating in the New Mexico Big Game Draw.
FYI - The auction hunter in NM has declared Rocky Mountain bighorn in Wheeler Peak (hunt unit 53 portion S of Hwy 38) for his hunt.
So the raffle tag can be used in one of the remaining units listed above, including being used for a Desert Bighorn.
Results of the draw are now available on-line at: https://onlinesales.wildlife.s.../public/lucky-lookup
