I would like everyones thoughs on the exotic sheep, mouflons and ibex across the US.How do you feel about these hunts? Do you consider a good trophy animal a trophy even though it does not come from its country of origin? I realize this is a little controversial but all discussion is good.

I think it depends on the reason for the hunt. I wouldn't do as a substitute for hunting the same animal in its native land if they can still be hunted in their native habitat. However if it isn't huntable in its native habitat (addax, scimitar horned oryx, black buck), its done fair chase and you aren't doing for record book purposes, then I don't see any problems.

I have a free range Aoudad hunt in West Tx.
next month which I am greatly anticipating. I would also love to draw an Ibex hunt in the Florida Mountains of N.M. As far as I'm concerned any FREE RANGE exotic is a candidate for the "to do" list. |
