Special hunt permit applications for deer, elk, goat, sheep, moose, and turkey are available for sale from April 20 to June 13, 2006.
Note (New): the purchase deadline is 7 days before the application submission deadline.

The Application Submission Period for the 2006 Deer, Elk, Mountain Goat, Moose, Bighorn Sheep, and Fall Turkey Drawing is May 15 to midnight June 20, 2006. After that time, special hunt permit application submissions will NOT be accepted.

Hi RamDreamer, I'm a little confused as to when I need to send in my application. Is it after 4/20 or after 5/15? Thanks again, I'm in all the draws so far, but my funds are drying up!!!Only 5 more states to go! Joe

Yeah, I guess it is confusing.

You may purchase the "special hunt permit applications" starting April 20th.

You may then actually submit the application after May 15th.

I usually wait until the application "submission" period is in effect and then do it all on-line at the same time. The only problem with that, as of this year, is that you have to be sure to do it by June 13th (due to the new cut off of application sales a week prior to the close of the application submission period).

Thanks RamDreamer! Maybe I'll wait and do it online also, it does seem to be easier. I just mailed in for Idaho yesterday and had to fill out 2 separate forms, 1 for license and another for application. Thanks. Joe

Commission approves new hunting rules for 2006-08

Key changes in hunting seasons approved by the commission include:

Moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goat: WDFW surveys indicate that current state populations of these animals are stable or increasing. In each of the next three years, the commission approved 100 hunting permits for moose, 35 for bighorn sheep and 16 for mountain goat.

I bought my application today on-line and then tried to submit it as well. No go.

Then I just read in the pamplet I downloaded (page 62) that "The Application Submission Period for the 2006 Deer, Elk, Mountain Goat, Moose, Bighorn Sheep, and Early Fall Turkey Drawing is May 31 to midnight June 28, 2006."
